Catch a Baby Snake
On our last trip to Cijayana’s, South Garut we meet this lovely baby snake crossing the village road. The road was quite busy. Vehicle, motorcycle and village children, and there is a big chance that sooner or later this baby may kill something or get killed. Either by vehicle or village people.
For village people, this snake is considered as a ‘pest’. Although we never heard local people harmed or killed by this snake, threaten to livestock, especially chicken and sheep was recognized (last week, one of our worker killed the bigger spitting cobra after she spit and killed the chicken).
We captive the baby and bring it home to learn and try babysitting her. Later, we may find more suitable place to released her.
This baby has a hood flap, but we never saw her spitting. So actually we’re not sure, whether she is a Naja sputatrix, the Javan spitting cobra or Ophiophagus hannah, the king cobra or not both
